Report

Report: A decimated first team, gave the chance for players from the 2nd 3rd & 4th teams to step up and they did a great job - first up was Terri Woods against cool and calm Joe, in the first Terri was over come by Joe’s tight shots and speed, but lets get down to the second game Terri leading 8-2 after some great nicks and slower half court shots, seemed to have Joe on the hook, but then it all went pear shaped for Terri, Joe forcing him all over the court, and it ended with Joe coming through at 10-8, Joe kept the pressure on for the third winning 9-2. Tom Williams was playing Graham (I can get across the court in two strides) Graham had to work hard for the first game as the young one seems to be playing more and enjoying it, Graham then went on to win the second, and it didn’t seem that Tom’s hard work was not working out, then it all came together in the third winning 9-2, and then onto the fourth, despite all Tom’s effort Graham run out the winner. Third on was Dave against Stuart, it seems that Stuart was soon working out Dave’s favourite spot on drop shots, and just didn’t let him get in a position to do them, and kept pushing him all around the court, Stuart running out the winner. Then it was super fit Carl against Ryan, Carl come out like a bullet in the first, Ryan I’m sure wondered what hit him losing 9-2, second game was Ryan’s turn (I’ve worked him out), but not before Ryan leading at 8-3, seemed to lose the plot allowing Carl to come back to 8 all, Ryan then saved two game points to run out the winner at 10-9, unfortunately Ryan then took charge over the next two games to win.
Finally the only first team player - Mo having to play at one against Malcolm whilst not seeing any of the games, the ‘Ooh’s and ‘ar’s could be heard, a small grin as he walked passed me told me that Mo has won the first match, I was just in time in the second to see Malcolm ‘tin’ shots, resulting in the comment ‘its not my day’ with Mo leading two nil, was it possible, Mo took the advantage and run out the winner.
First thanks to all the boys from Canterbury – great night lads – nice to play and meet down to earth players.
Secondly thanks to Carl from the 4th team, Tom from the 3rd team, Dave & Terri from the 2nd team and Mo for playing up, you all showed and committed yourself in this match against the Division One leaders, lads brilliant.
