Report

Report:It was a huge shame and somewhat upsetting to witness the demise of a local 'legend'; as Ian Watts had to be repeatedly pulled up for, and called on, foot faults. Naturally he denied all such allegations but it was clear to see he is now reaching the age at which he is no longer in control of his own body. Shame.
Who is writing this rubbish!!!
I've never been in control of my body! Just ask the wife!
Regarding the foot fault. It was only ONE call of 'foot fault' (without a warning!) throughout the match and that was by a player whose referreeing decisions have been called into question in the past. (See the report of Ian Watts (FSC 2)v Brad Masters (Maidstone 2)from the Winter 2011-12 season). Enough said I think!
Now you have got me started so I think I have the right to finish!
First on was Jimmy V againgst the much improved, svelt looking, LFC supporting and real Hythe No.1. Phil did his best to combat the retrieving abilties of The Voyle but eventually got ground down in the end.
On the other court at the same time was the foot faulting Scouser, desperately wanting to watch the No.1's play but having to play the legend that is Tom McCorkingdale. What followed can only be described as the worst so called 'squash match' the Scouser has had to endure in the whole of his considerable career. Needless to say both players came off cold, the LFC fan blue, the ball a solid block of ice and there can't have been more that two 5 shot rallies in the 30 minutes it took to finish. It must have been shocking to watch as a spectator and even worse for one of the players as there wasn't much squash to cheer about. I don't want to be too critical of Tom's game here as I was so vocal about it on the night. The 'First to the drop shot' is not the most attractive game of squash to play or watch! Can't wait for the return....not! Hopefully Ray will be playing at No.2 in 2013!
However, Folkesone's Ray and stand in for 'Sick Note Simon', Johnny had routine wins at 4 and 5 against Hythe's Glen 'Windmill Swing' Mousley and Andy Williams.
The last match of the night saw Hythe's 2013 No.2, Mr Samedini, take Mark's game apart with some clinical finishing and court blocking of the highest order!
It was a good night for the home team and some decent food. The only disappointment was that Tom had to leave early before the Scouser really ripped his game apart and this time, not on the squash court but in the bar!
