Report: | An important Div 2 night as only a win for Folkestone would see them win the league. Hythe got off to a great start with stand-in Kayvan, wearing down Ray and beating him in 5. This is whilst fat boy Watts was outfoxing Tom Mc to make it one match all. After a bright start at 1, Phil could not cope with James's accuracy and lost 3-0. On the other court, a combination of a dodgy wall (Plaster falling out) and dodgy marker (fat boy Watts) made for an entertaining game between Mark and Glenn who managed to grind out yet another 5 setter. Glenn then ground to a halt at 4-4 (heart attack type thingy) in the 5th and Mark ran out the winner. Meanwhile, Ray, after some stomping and cussing, finally got his act together and beat Simon 3-2. This "just" allowed Folkestone to win the match and league and led to a rather smug look after a few beers when a text conversation ensued with runners-up Mote. |
