Report

Report: A good evening had with Folkstone that included a couple of thrillers that went the full length. The first being a brilliant win for Ian over Peter. While Peter admittedly he was not feeling 100% and struggling to get on with loser string tensions & perhaps was trying to hard and so struggling to relax. Ian stuck in there with some attacking tight back hands both deep and particular short to keep Peter under pressure to take the first game. A complete transformation for Peter in the second and third losing only a point in each made the match look pretty much over, however again Peter lost his way in the forth with mistakes and over hitting producing a poor length that Ian then fed off from the tee; a close game that saw peter's single match point. In the fifth it was all about belief and composure against a little panic from the younger player. Well done to Ian & also Peter who took it well. Meanwhile Jack and Phil both won straight forwardly, I only saw a rally of each but loved George's plea to me at 2-0 down outside of court where he begged to know what to do about Jack who was just so quick on the night. The second thriller that I missed was Graham and Rob at 5, again a Maidstone player with a match ball and for 3-0 that he failed to convert going on to be beaten in a hard match by Rob, great come back. My own game looked to be quick at the start but following one mistake catching the tin top at the start of the 2nd Phil found a way in to make a really enjoyable match for both players, (I think!?). While the pizza was enjoyed together with some good banter Jack caught be laughing to myself as it dawned on me that our Phil actually uses more swear words per sentence than non swear words and he wasn't even talking about me!!
