Report

Report:The 3rds managed to turn the tables on the 2nds with a 3-2 upset over the pre match favourites!

The 2nds were dealt a blow early on in the afternoon with no.2 Osh Cutting pulling out the match due to injury (broken fingernail, sore bum, who knows...), which meant them having to move up the order and another fabled battle between Matt Jenkins and Chewit Eastman was now on the table!

Gabriel Scott stepped in from the 4th team to make up their 5.

First on were Alex Payne and captain G-Man Cutting.

Alex proved to be a bit too clinical and Graham found it hard to get Alex off the T and spent quite a lot of time working extra hard to get around Alex!

1-0 3rd Team

Next on were Gabriel and Nic in what was dubbed as the battle of the long rallies....nottttt!

5 quickfire games of who could hit a winner or tin ensued and Nic did just enough to keep his younger opponent at bay and took the match 3-2

2-0 3rd team and looking ominous for the 2nds!

Next on was Matt Jenkins vs. Chewit Eastman, renewing their team match rivalry with the past two encounters going the distance. Chewit was in no mood for a five setter and edged out the first two games to go 2-0 up, Jenkins fought back to take the 3rd and despite Chewit going 10-3 up in the 4th, Jenkins wasn't quite finished there, going on a run of:

handout, 4-10
5-10
6-10
7-10
8-10

Chewit was losing the plot, Jenkins was on the ascendancy and the crowd were going wild, willing there to be a 5th game!!

All bets were off when Jenkins well and truly blew it by hitting a wanker boast straight into the floor to lose the match and foil his own comeback! Fans were later seen forming a queue at the ticket office demanding a refund!!

2-1 3rd team!

Meanwhile Farrer-Newey and Dave were on court battling it out in a classic 5 set encounter of shot maker vs retriever. Unfortunately for the 2nds, Dave was able to get that one shot too many for Toms liking and threw in a few wrong footing boasts of his own to take the match 3-2 and give the 3rds a 3-1 lead and the match!!!

3-1 3rd team

I didn't see any of Tom and Lloyds match but Tom lost points on Squashlevels this morning so I assume Lloyd played well!! well done

Canterbury 3rds 3 - Canterbury 2nds 2

Good bye
